Mike Rafferty Announces Retirement from NHTrust

Michael J. Rafferty, CFP® Senior Vice President, Senior Relationship Manager is retiring on December 31st after more than 30  years in the wealth management field. Mike was a co-founder of The New Hampshire Trust Company in Keene in 2002 and joined the newly organized NHTrust organization when NHTrust acquired The New Hampshire Trust Company in 2020.

“In our work, we focus on the financial health of our clients and their well-being. But even for wealth managers and financial planners, as with time, we eventually find ourselves there too,” said Paul Provost, President at NHTrust. “For Mike, after a successful career and years of building a business, this is well-earned and I’m sure many plans are in the works for him personally with this new found free time.”

“I have been reflecting on how fortunate I have been,” noted Mike, “and will really miss all of the wonderful and fulfilling relationships I’ve built with my clients and other professionals over the years. It’s been an honor and a privilege to have assisted our clients in meeting their financial needs.”

Mike’s professional career has always been focused on helping clients meet their financial goals. He has been a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) since 1989 and specialized in assisting clients with estate planning, retirement planning and overall wealth management. In his earlier years, Mike worked for State Street Bank and the Delaware Trust Co. He moved on to become a Vice President and Manager for Fleet Bank’s trust division located in Keene for the next 10 years. In June of 2002, Mike became a co-founder, shareholder and Co-President of The New Hampshire Trust Company located in Keene focusing on trust and investment management services for individuals and nonprofit organizations, and then in 2020, Senior VP of NHTrust when his founding firm was obtained by NHTrust.

Mike has been involved with several community organizations during his career and looks forward to continuing his volunteer efforts in retirement. He is currently on the Investment and Finance committees for Cedarcrest. He has previously worked with the New Charitable Foundation’s Monadnock Region Advisory Board, RiverMead Retirement Community, the Monadnock United Way, the Keene Family YMCA as well as the Keene Rotary Clubs and a variety of youth sports organizations.
